CHRISTMAS AROUND THE WORLD
Text: Luke 2:1-7
INT. Since this is Christmas season I want to bring you a few thoughts
today concerning Christmas around the world. For our scripture reading please turn to Luke
2:1-7.
I call three thoughts to your attention today concerning Christmas.
I. WE SHOULD ALL UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURAL MEANING OF CHRISTMAS.
A. It means that God loved an unlovable world of sinners (Luke 1:31, 35; John 3:15-16).
B. It means that Jesus Christ took upon Himself the form of man to die in his stead, that
sinners might be saved (Cf. Romans 6:23a & 6:23b).
C. It means that there isn't one single sinful soul that must die and go to hell (John
3:15-18; Romans 5:8; John 1:12).
II. WE SHOULD ALL UNDERSTAND THE SCRIPTURAL BEGINNING OF CHRISTMAS
A. In the mind of God in eternity past (Heb. 9:26; I Peter 1:19-20).
B. In the Garden of Eden (Gen. 3:15).
C. In Bethlehem's Manger (Luke 2:7-12) Gal. 4:4
"But when the fulness of time was come, God sent forth His Son, made of a woman, made
under the law."
III. WE SHOULD ALL EXPERIENCE THE TRUE AND SCRIPTURAL BLESSINGS OF CHRISTMAS
A. Not in the gaity, fun, frivialty, and folly as the un-Godly world does.
B. Not through the quantity and/or quality of gifts given or received.
