Laugh With Me
Text: Gen. 17:15-17 and Gen. 21:1-8.
Introduction:
"Laugh" means "to be cheerful, joyful, or elated."
Psalm. 126:1-2 says:
1 ¶ <<A Song of degrees.>> When the LORD turned again the captivity of Zion,
we were like them that dream.
2 Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they
among the heathen, The LORD hath done great things for them.
What do we have to laugh about?
I. We Have A God That Never Forgets (v.1)
A. He Is The God That Appears
1. He Appears with Giving on His mind(2 Chron.1:7).
2. He Appears With Grace in His heart (Titus 2:11).
3. He Appears With Glory as His goal (Ps.102:16).
B. He Is The Godly That Is Almighty
1. The One Who is sufficient (2 Cor. 3:5)
2. The One Who is all-powerful (every time mentioned in Genesis, it is
always connected with a divine
blessing.
C. He Is The God That Assures (v.2-4)
II. We Have A Promise That Never Fails (v.19)--"Shall
bear thee a son indeed."
v.2 "I will make."
v.6 "I will make."
v.7 "I will establish."
v.8 "I will give."
v.8 "I will be."
v.16 " I will bless and give."
v.19 "I will establish."
A. God Has Individual Promises (shall bear thee a son)
B. God Has Indeed Promises (shall bear thee a son indeed)
"Indeed": "assuredly, truly, absolutely."
It has to do with amazement to the point of laughter. It can be described
with many phrases: "You don't say---you're kidding----well, for heaven's sake."
What are some "indeed"
promises?
1. The promise of being God's peculiar treasure
(Ex.19:15).
2. The promise of having a prayer answered (1 Chron. 4:10).
3. The promise of freedom (Jn. 8:36).
