Poems By
Brother Edgar

Hubert

He came to us full of life and cheer,
His body was strong and his mind was clear.
And in the storms life like a steady oak,
He seldom bent and never broke.

Then the blow like a midnight knell,
Came from the disease from which he fell.
But in the struggle with all it's pain,
He never whimpered, cried or complained.

And now He is gone, but it is not wrong,
He's gathered with millions who're always strong.
He conquered the enemy you and I face,
Delivered forever from Adam's race.

And some day real soon, just a little while,
We'll hear him speak and see him smile.
And the burdens and sorrows that are now hard to bear,
Will be gone forever in that land so fair.

So, let's remember our Brother Hubert in this way,
A man who loved truth and knew now to pray.
He did his job right, even when it was hard,
And was not afraid when it came time to punch the last card.
