THE STEPS OF A GOOD MAN
TEXT: Psalm 37 :23-25
INTRODUCTION: I want to call your attention to three steps that should
be found in the life of every good man . When I use the word "good" I am
not speaking of a good man as far as the world is concerned . I am speaking
of a good man as the Bible and God are concerned . Let us consider the steps of a good man .
I. THE STEP OF SALVATION.
1. The most important step that any individual can take is the step o f
salvation .
2. Every individual should realize that all the work for our salvation has
been performed over two thousand years ago when the Lord Jesus
Christ went to the cross of Calvary, and suffered and bled and died ;
Eph. 2 :8, 9 .
3. There are individuals who are within one step of having the matter o f
salvation settled but up to this hour that all important step has not
been taken .
II. THE STEP OF SEPARATION.
1. We need to preach on salvation until we get people saved and we need
to preach on separation until we all begin to live separated lives .
2. When a person gets saved he needs to straighten up the outside so tha t
it will conform with the inside that has been cleansed ; Rom. 12 :1 ;
Matt. 7 :16, 22, 23 .
3. The Apostle Paul admonished the church at Corinth to be a separated
church; II Cor. 6 :17, 18 .
4. The Apostle John admonished believers in I John 2 :15 to be a separated
people.
5. When a Christian lets the love of the world come between them an d
God, there is something wrong in their hearts .
III. THE STEP OF STEWARDSHIP.
1. It is not how loud you sing, "Oh, how I love Jesus ." It is how much
you give that shows that you love Him . God proved His love by giving
John 3 :16 .
2. In Philippians 4 :19, God tells us that all of our needs will be supplied
through Jesus Christ, our Lord . Yet, everywhere people are stealing,
not from their neighbors but from God ; Mal . 3 :8-10 .
