Christmas, like no other time of year, is a time when family gets together. This will bring a note of sadness to some because of family members who will not be present this year. Sin, sickness, circumstances, and death will separate some family members. But, may we gather together as a family as much as Is possible, remember the happy times, and make Christmas a growing-together time.
Christmas is a time when candles, nuts, fruits, pies, cakes, turkeys, and hams are plentiful. There are dinners, suppers, and parties, and there is always the big feast at Christmas time. As we gather and eat this Christmas, let us look up and thank our God for America, the greatest nation on earth ever, and thank Him for letting us live in such a land of plenty.
Christmas is the time when love is conveyed from heart to heart by gifts of all kinds to all people. Good will Is spread from house to house and person to person, and this is good. There are toys for the children, a gift for mother and dad, a little something for friends and neighbors. This is the holiest day of the year for Christians, and rightly so, because this Is the day of the year we celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ, our Savior, God s greatest love gift to the world. "For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son" (John 3:16). Jesus, the Son, "loved me and gave Himself for me (Gal. 2:20). Yes, Christmas is a time of giving, and may we give of ourselves that others may be able to receive salvation, the greatest gift. SERMON BY BILLY BRYANT |
