"Preach The Word"



I WOULD BE LIKE JESUS

TEXT: Philippians 2:5-10

I. I WOULD LIKE TO BE LIKE JESUS IN LOVE

A. In our day the word "love" has been degraded and perverted.

B. The love of Jesus was without discrimination.

1. Jesus loved those who rejected him, such as, the young rich ruler. Mk. 10:21-22

2. The love of Jesus was an ending love. John 13:1

3. We can preach to people, pray for them, do everything possible, but we will never win them until we love them. I Peter 4:8

II. I WOULD LIKE TO BE LIKE JESUS IN HUMILIATION

A. "And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death." Philippians 2:8

B. The Lord Jesus Christ was the creator of all things. -John 1:3

1. We are living in an age of pride; we are proud of possession.

2. "Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spfrit before a fall." Prov. 16:18

3. We need to be humble. 11 Chronicles 7:14

III. I WOULD LIKE TO BE LIKE JESUS IN PRAYER

A. "And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God." Luke 6:12

B. Jesus had ''a place of prayer." ''And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place Luke 11:1

IV. I WOULD LIKE TO BE LIKE JESUS IN FAITH

A. ''And Jesus lifted up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee thou hast heard me.

And I knew that thou hearest me always John 11:41-42

V. I WOULD LIKE TO BE LIKE JESUS IN SERVICE

A. "How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him." Acts 10:38

B. Jesus said, ''Then said he unto his disciples, the harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few: Pray ye therefore the lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest." Matthew 9:37-38

VI. WE WILL BE LIKE HIM IN GLORY

A. ''Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is."John 3:2.
