"Preach The Word"

HOLY GHOST NOT YET FALLEN

Text: Acts 8:4-24

INTRODUCTION:If God could turn Samaria upside down and they were half-breeds, what can He do for the Church? All major denominations used to preach this.  Problem is the Church. We are backslidden.

I. WHAT THEY DID HAVE:

1. They had a good preacher—Philip. v. 5

2. They had good preaching. v. 5

3. They had good reception. v. 6

4. They had good converts. v. 12. 13

5. They had good Baptism. v. 12

II. WHAT THEY DID NOT HAVE: v. 16, 17

What did this mean?

1. Did not mean they were not saved.

2. Did not mean they were not regenerated.

3. Did not mean they were not baptized. Must be a proper candidate,          Mode, Administrator.

4. They had not as yet received Holy Ghost.

5. They had not as yet been confirmed in Holy Ghost

6. They had not as yet sealed in Holy Ghost.

7. They had not as yet received assurance. Apostles did not have this until Pentecost.

Intellectual, experimental knowledge. I John 2:20; John 14:20.

III. HOW DID SAMARITANS RECEIVE GIFT OF HOLY GHOST?

1. They surrendered to the will of God.

2. They surrendered to the Spirit of God.

3. They bowed their knees to apostolic truth.

4. They bowed their knees to apostolic authority.

5. They bowed to authority of N. T.

IV. WHAT HAPPENED TO SAMARITANS?

I. They were baptized with Holy Ghost.

2. They were sealed with Holy Ghost.

3. They were filled with divine power.

4. They were filled with divine love.

5. They were filled with divine likeness.
