"Preach The Word"

Come See A Man

Text: Jn.1:42

Introduction:

1. The weary Master
2. Disciples on errand
3. Women coming to the well.

Come see a man who:

I. WHO SOUGHT ME OUT- to win me to God.

A. He must needs go through Samaria (v.4)

To seek and save the lost (Lk.19:10).
To do the will of the Father and to accomplish His work.

B. He knew the woman would come to the well.

II. WHO BROUGHT ME FACE TO FACE WITH MY SIN

A. Point of contact- Give me to drink (v.7).

B. Interest aroused- (v.10-15).

C. Sin disclosed- (v.16-18).

1. To awaken her conscience.
2. To open the wound of guilt.
3. To prick the heart (2 Cor. 7:10)
4. To impress her with the need of forgiveness

D. Subject evaded- (v.19-20)

"Sir, I percieve that thou art a prophet- our Fathers worshiped---"

III. WHO GAVE ME TRUTH ABOUT WORSHIP

A. Now is the hour- true worshipers (v23).

B. Must worship in spirit and truth.

C. The Father sought such to worship him.

D. Jesus is the Messiah (v.25-26).

IV. WHO GAVE ME THE WATER OF LIFE

She left her waterpot. Verse 28 tells us that something happened to her, a revolution, a changing. It is true she did not say anything--but her actions did.

A. Water that will remove the guilt of sin.

B. Water that will quench the thirst of the soul (v.14).

C. Water that gives new life.

D. Water that will never cease.

V. WHO SENT ME FORTH WITH A STORY TO TELL

A. By the sweetness of sins forgiven.

B. By the love of God imparted.

C. By the realization that if He could save me, He could save others.

Vs.39,42 --She told the story with results.

CONCLUSION:

1. Everyday opportunities.

2. Real refreshment--Jesus--I have meat to eat that you know not of.

3. Jesus and sinners, even the outcasts---He loves them.
