THE COMPASSION OF JESUS CHRIST Scripture: Luke 7:11-16 Introduction: Many times in the four Gospel we read the statement, "And Jesus was moved with compassion."That means to enter into anothers suffering and to respond in an act of mercy. There are three examples of His great compassion in the Gospel of Luke. I. COMPASSION ON THE WEEPING SISTER: This is resurrecting love (Luke7:13). Notice three things in these verses: A. The tears of desperation. B. The thorn of death. C. The touch of deliverance. II. COMPASSION ON THE WOUNDED SINNER: This is rescuing love (Luke 10:30-37). A. He came to him. B. He cared for him. C. He cured him. D. He committed Himself to him. E. He came to him again. III. COMPASSION ON THE WAYWARD SON: This is restoring love (Luke 15:11-24). A. He knew him. B. He was kind to him. C. He kissed him. CONCLUSION: 1. A son was raised. 2. A sinner was rescued. 3. A son was restored. SERMON BY JOE ARTHUR- PASTOR OF
