Blessings From God*s Brooks

Psalm 110:7

This is a study of the different brooks in scripture and the signficance in their lessons.

I. Reinforcement : I Samuel 17:40; Psalm 24:7-10

God*s people are in a warfare that often brings us to the end of ourselves. Note why we need this brook:

A. Warfare with no action

B. Will with no authority to perform it

C. Weapons with no ammunition

II. Readjustment I Kings 17:2-7

A. Halting before progress

B. Hiding before showing

     1. Meals from Heaven

     2. Ministry to distressed... 17:17, 18

     3. Meeting with Ahab... 18:1

     4. Miracle of fire

     5. Manifestation of rain... 18:46

C hopelessness before strength. . . 19:1-10

III Refreshment Psalm 42:1, 2

Shepherds know the danger of the cast sheep

A Because of direction (soft spot)

B.Because of diet

C Because of desires (wool is a type of self-life and was forbidden for         priests when ministering)

IV. Reassessment John 18:1

He drank a cup so I could have a well

He allowed himself to be sold to purchase me

He cried "my God" so that I could cry "Abba"

Here we see the picture of a warrior stooping to refresh himself at a wayside pool. Note the things that refreshed our heavenly warrior:

A His Father*s approval... John 10:17

B. The outcome of His actions. . . Isaiah 53:11

C. The enthusiasm of his associates
