Why Christ should have the pre-eminence:

I. BECAUSE OF WHAT HE IS
A. To God
1. The Son of His Love (vs. 13).
2. The image of the invisible God (vs. 15).
B. To the Universe
1. Who made it?—"By him" (vs. 16).
2. Who maintains it?—"By him" (vs. 17).
3. Who is the ultimate heir?—"For him" (vs. 16).
C. To the Church
1. "The Head" (vs. 18).

II. BECAUSE OF WHAT HE HAS DONE
A. To the sinner—"Quickened" him (2:13).
B. To sin—Has "forgiven" it (2:13) .
C. To the law--Canceled it (2:14 ) .
D. To Satan—Conquered him (2:15)

III. BECAUSE OF HIS OWN CLAIMS
A. In religious life (3:16).
B. In home life (3:18).
C. In business life (3:22).
