1. ACCORDING TO PROMISE We have many promises in the Bible. We have the promise of forgiveness of sins, of an abiding Comforter, of the supply of all our needs, and many more. But, none of the promises of eternity mean anything to us without the resurrection of Jesus. It is the foundation on which everything else is built. Every promise God has ever made to mankind rests upon the promise that He would rise again. 2. ATTAINING OUR SALVATION The message of Christ's resurrection is the message of salvation. The early church preached that Jesus rose from the dead to deliver us from our "iniquities" (Acts 3:26). Paul preached this, too, saying, "That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised Him from the dead, thou shalt be saved' (Rom. 10:9). May we preach this good news, also! 3. AFFIRMING THE FUTURE The future of this world and all things in it is dark. Clouds of war, disease, hunger, trouble, and pain blacken the sky for all of us, and seemingly snuff out every little ray of hope for peace and happiness in this world. Then, we read in the Bible of a country called heaven, where sorrow, sickness, pam, and separation shall never come. But, this hope would fade, too, if there were no resurrection. Thank God, He arose, and because He lives, we shall alive also (see John 14:19). |
