"Preach The Word"

Now Christ Is Risen
1 Cor.15:20

When the first sheaves of the field were gathered during Bible days, they testified of a coming harvest. They brought with them the hopes of more ripened grain. As "the firstfruits of them that slept," or the firstfruits of the resurrection, Jesus is our hope and promise for the future. And, without queston, our resurrected Lord brings much to us through His resurrection.

1. BRINGING SALVATION TO ALL WHO BELIEVE

Earlier in this chapter, the Bible tells us, "Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures, And that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the scriptures" (vs. 3, 4). Salvation is in a person, and that person is Christ Jesus. He lived, died, was buried, arose from the dead, and is alive forever. And, according to the Scriptures, there could be no salvation without the resurrection of Christ.

2. BRINGING VICTORY IN ALL CIRCUMSTANCES

Because of Christ's resurrection, and His victory over the great enemy, death, there is no obstacle too big for Him to overcome in our lives. His victory is our victory! That's why Paul said later in this chapter, "But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ" (v. 57). As we are filled with the Holy Ghost, we begin to realize that "in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us" (Rom. 8:37).

3. BRINGING HOPE FOR ALL THE AGES

Only the born-again, blood-bought Christian can look forward to a new resurrected body to live in forever after this life is over. "It is appointed unto man once to die" (Heb. 9:27), but our resurrected, ever-living Lord Jesus is soon coming back to this earth for us. We shall then receive a glorious body, "fashioned like unto His glorious body" (Phil. 3:21), and will be transported to be with Jesus and all of the saved forever. Thank God for a resurrected Lord and for resurrection life through Him.

3. THIS IS THE GREATEST HOPE FOR THE FUTURE

The word "hope" means a ground of happy expectation. Without hope for the future, we can never make it through the dark and rough places of life. Many people have no hope, and, as a result, they die by degrees or perhaps end their own lives. Many have believed on Jesus and have received this eternal life through Him. This is a real, sure, and eternal hope. He is "alive for evermore." Believe and receive Him now.
