"Preach The Word"

INTRODUCTION: 

We should glorify God in body and spirit because Christ redeemed them at Calvary.

I. Because of His purchase--I Corinthians 6:20.

A. He p aid the price of His glory. His glory is so great that the city of God has no need of the sun or the moon, but the Lamb is the light. He laid aside that glory and died in shame.

B. He paid the price of His grace--Il Corinthians 5:2 1, I Peter 2:24.

C. He paid the price of grief.

1. Grief of the nails.

2. Grief of our needs.

Surely He was a man of sorrow acquainted with grief.

II. Because of our purification--verse 11.

A. He washed us--verses 9 and 10.

B. He weaned us--verse 11--sanctified.

C. He welcomed us--verse 11--justified. All this came about because of the name of Jesus and the Spirit of God.

III. Because of our partnership--verse 15. We are members of Christ.

A. Members of His body.

 B. Members of His bride.

IV. Because of His promise--verse 14. He promised to raise up our body like He raised up the body of our Lord Jesus Christ.

A. By His power--verse 14.

B. With our same personality--Matthew 8:11.

CONCLUSION: 

He purchased our body and spirit at the cross, and

we ought to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit.
