1. Not willing to consecrate--present body.
2. Not willing to
separate--be not conformed.
3. Not willing to
illuminate--be transformed.
I. The appeal--verse 1.
Present your body as a living sacrifice, not because of force or fear,
but because of the mercies of God.
A. We have redeeming
mercies--I Peter 1:19.
B. We have regenerating
mercies--Ephesians 2:1. We have received something, so we ought to
give something--God has done something for us, and we should let Him
do something through us.
II. The act--present
your body--verse 1. Give not to God, He has a body. Give not to Christ,
He has a body. But, give ourselves to the Holy Spirit because He has no
body--we are His temple.
A. As a building in which for
Him to live.
B. As a bride for Him to
love.
C. As a bank in which He can
deposit His grace.
D. As a battlefield in which
He can conquer evil.
III. The argument--reasonable
service--verse 1. We are the objects of redemption and saved from the
terrible penalty of sin. We are the recipients of regeneration and the
objects of eternity. If God did all of this for us. it is only
reasonable that we give ourselves unconditionally to Him.
IV. The attitude--be not
conformed--verse 2.
A. To the world*s
fellowship
B. To
the world*s
fashion.
C. To the world*s
fun.
V. The achievement--prove God*s
will--verse 2. You don*t
prove God*s
will by going to school and learning creeds, but by the transforming,
renewing work of God*s
Holy Spirit that leads and guides those who will sell out.
