CHRISTIAN CONCERN

I Thessalonians 2:1-20

I. THE SPEAKING v. 1-8

1. Suffering v. 1-2. Paul is mistreated at Philippi.

2. Speaking v. 3-4. He spoke with a sincere heart v. 3. And with simplicity v. 4.

3. Sincerity v. 5-6. A lack of pride v. 5. A lack of praise v.6. Flattery is really lying.

4. Sacrifice v. 7-8. Paul not only gave God's Word, he gave himself. This is real sacrifice!

II. THE SACRIFICE v. 9-12

1. Persistent v. 9. Paul reminds the people how he labored among them free of charge.

2. Purity v. 10. Paul lived a just and holy life. He not only preached holiness, he practiced it.

3. Plea v. 11. Paul spoke to the Christians as a father talks to his children.

4. Praise v. 12. Live so your life will bring praise to the Lord.

III. THE SALVATION v. 13-16

1. Preaching v. 13. The people accept Paul's words as the Word of God.

2. Persecution v. 14. The Thessalonians suffered much for the Lord, yet they remain true unto God.

3. Problem v. 15-16. The Jews killed the prophets, crucified Christ, now punish the disciples.

IV. THE SEPARATION v. 17-20

1. Desire v. 17. Paul had a desire to come and visit the Thessalonians.

2. Detainment v. 18. Satan hindered Paul from coming. Satan always hinders God's work.

3. Delight v. 19-20. The joy of having the hope of Christ's return to earth. This was A.D. 54, He believed Christ could return at any time.
