THE VOW JEPHTHAH MADE

Judges 11:1-35

I. IT WAS A DEFINITE COMMITMENT

A. His appeal was honest

B. His approach was holy

II. IT WAS A DEVASTATING COMMITMENT

A. He didn't forget his promise to God

B. He didn't fudge on his proposal to God

C. He didn't flee from the presence of God

III. IT WAS A DRAMATIC COMMITMENT - V -3

A. The test of His commitment to God

Would he go through with his vow?

Would he obey God ? Was it just talk?

Was his Heart really serious? He said ,"I can't go back."

B. The Tragedy of His commitment

Means a serous play having an unhappy ending. A very sad and terrible happening . This must have sadden Elisha and made feel very low. What a burden he cast upon the man of God!
