"Preach The Word"
ONLY A STEP
. Introduction:
David said to Jonathan, "There is but a step between me
and death" (I Samuel 20:3). He realized he was in danger
and it was uncertain how long he would live.
THERE IS "ONLY A STEP":
I. BETWEEN ALL OF US AND DEATH.
A. All of us must take this step — Hebrews 9:27; Romans
5:12.
B. It is very uncertain when we shall take this step — Genesis
27:2; Proverbs 27:1; James 4:14.
C. We should be prepared to take this step today — Amos
4:12; II Corinthians 6:2; Hebrews 3:7, 8.
II. BETWEEN A CHRISTIAN AND HEAVEN.
The Bible says that the Christian goes to be with Christ at
death — Philippians 1:23; II Corinthians 5:8.
III. BETWEEN A SINNER AND HELL.
The Bible says that the unsaved person goes immediately
to hell at death — Luke 16:22, 23.
IV. BETWEEN A SINNER AND ETERNAL LIFE.
That step is the step of faith. Jesus said, "I am the door:
by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved .....(John 10:9).
Take that step right now — trust Jesus — receive Him — He
will give you the power to become a child of God ( John 1:12).
Only a step to Jesus! Then why not take it now?
Come, and thy sin confessing, to Him, thy Saviour, bow.
Only a step to Jesus! 0 why not come and say:
"Glady to Thee my Saviour, I give myself away"?
Only a step, only a step; Come, He waits for thee;
Come, and thy sin confessing, Thou shalt receive a blessing;
Do not reject the mercy He freely offers thee.
