Funeral Messages by Carl Johnson

Tell Jesus

Text: Matthew 14:2

Introduction:
When John the Baptist was beheaded by King Herod, his
disciples came, ". . . took up the body, and buried it, and
went and told Jesus." As the body of your loved one has been
taken for burial, may you also tell Jesus.

I. TELL JESUS YOUR SORROW.
Mary and Martha told Jesus their sorrow in the loss of their
brother and He wept with them and shared their sorrow ( John
11:19-35).
"Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you" (I
Peter 5:7).
I must tell Jesus all of my trials;
I cannot bear these burdens alone;
In my distress He kindly will help me,
He ever loves and cares for His own.
I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus!
I cannot bear my burdens alone;
I must tell Jesus! I must tell Jesus!
Jesus can help me, Jesus alone.°
Tell Him your sorrow.

II. TELL JESUS YOU TRUST HIM.
When Job lost his loved ones in death, he said, "Though he
slay me, yet will I trust in him" (Job 13:15).
God never makes a mistake. In taking your loved one, He
had a purpose, for the Word of God promises: "And we know
that all things work together for good to them that love God, to
them who are the called according to his purpose" (Romans
8:28).
"He hath done all things well" ( Mark 7:37).
Tell Him you , trust Him.

III. TELL JESUS YOU WANT TO BE SAVED.
If you are not a Christian, tell Jesus you want to be saved.
Many have been saved through the death of a loved one. He
promises in His Word: "For whosoever shall call upon the name
of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13). "Believe on the
Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved . . ." (Acts 16:31).
Tell Jesus now you want to be saved.
