CHRISTIAN THANKFULNESS

Colossians 4:1-18

 

I. THE COMPENSATION v. 1

Masters will be compensated if they are fair.

1. Fair in the enlistment. Equality to all.

2. Fair in the encouragement. Do not downgrade.

3. Fair in the expectation. Do not expect too much.

 

II. THE COMMUNION v. 2-4

1. Prayer and praise v. 2. Do not become weary in your praying. God will answer.

2. Prayer and preaching v. 3. Paul always prayed for an opportunity to preach. Wherever he was he asked God for an opportunity to preach God's Word.

3. Prayer and plainness v. 4. Prayer that Paul's preaching may be simple for all to understand.

 

III. THE CONTROL v. 5-6

1. Walking v. 5. Live so that others see Christ.

2. Wisdom v. 6. Careful always with your speech.

 

IV. THE CONSECRATION v. 7-9

1. Partner v. 7. Tychicus, one of Paul's companions.

2. Purpose v. 8. Paul sends Tychicus to Colosse to see how the Christians were progressing.

3. Prisoner v. 9. Onesimus, the converted prisoner.

 

V. THE COMMENDATION v. 10-18

1. Prisoner v. 10. Aristarchus, a prisoner with Paul sends his greetings, and also Mark sends greetings.

2. Partners v. 11. Jesus Justus - Acts 18:7 Two different men? No one really knows for sure.

3. Praying v. 12-13. Epaphras, a fellow minister.

4. Preachers v. 14 Dr. Luke, also Demas.

5. People v. 15-17. Read this to the Laodiceans.

6. Parting v. 18. Paul closes by asking the people to pray for him.
