INTRO: Paul is writing to a young preacher named Timothy. Things are tough where He is preaching. Times are liberal and people are being influenced by Satan. Note:
I. TIMOTHY'S ACQUAINTANCE v.2-5

1. A hard place.
2. A heathen place.
Our place of service may be as Timothy's but we are to
take the gospel to it.
C. Timothy's Place. V. 5
1. Minister out of a pure heart.
2. Minister out of a purged heart.
3. Minister out of a progressing heart.
II. TIMOTHY'S ANOINTING. V. 12-16
His anointing contained something:
A. Praise - V. 12 "Thank my God"
B. Power-v. 12 "enabled me"
C. Putting - V. 12 "God called"
D. Past-v. 13 "dealt with"
E. Pattern - V. 16 "example"
III. TIMOTHY'S ADMONISHMENT. V. 18-20
A. Paul admonished this young man to:
1. The Word - v. 18 (prophesy)
2. The War - V. 18b (battle)
3. The Way - V. 19 (conscience)
