THE PURITY OF A SERVANT

TEXT: I Timothy 3

INTRO: A servant must be pure in his heart before he can help others.

I. THE MODEL SERVANT. V. 1-7

The faithful one:

A. Blameless - not perfect but above redicule

B One wife - controlled

C. Vigilant - aggressive

D. Sober - serious

E. Good behavior - careful

F. Hospitable - loves people

G. Teaches - labors

H. Alert - no wine

I. Tempered - no striker

J. Content - not greedy of money

K. Patient - long suffering

L. Meek - not a brawler

M. Satisfied - not covetors

N. Disciplined - His house ruled well

0. Experienced - not a novice

P. Good testimony - outside and in the church

II. THE MINISTERING SERVANT. V. 8-10

The deacon is to minister God's help to those present under the oversight of the Bishop.

A. Brave - courageous

B. Not a liar - honest

C. Sober - no wine

D. Content - not controlled by money

E. Pure conscience - clear

F. Proven - not new converts

III. MATED SERVANT. V. 11-16

Much is said of the mate of the servant. Note his mate is to be:

A. Grave - strong

B. Not a gossip - talk controlled

C. Sober - serious

D. Faithful - submitted

E. Children - controlled
