PURSE OF A SERVANT

TEXT: I Timothy 6

INTRO: There is one word that can identify the problems of many of today's pulpits: MONEY. The mishandling of it or the taking of it. This lesson is one preached to explain I Timothy 6 and it's message concerning money.

I. COVETING OF RICHES. V. 1-8

Principles taught:

A. Don't want more than you are capable of handling. (v. 1-2)

B. Don't run with people who teach you that happy is in stuff.
(v. 3-5)

C. Don't substitute anything for contentment. (v. 6-8)

II. CASUALTY OF RICHES. V. 9-10

A. Their actions change. (v. 9)

Snare, hurtful lust, destruction

B. Their affections change. (v. 9)

Their love of money causes them to leave right and faith

(v. 10) and are pierced with many sorrows.

III. COMMUNICATION OF RICHES. (v. 17-21)

A. There is a charge. (v. 17-21)

B. There is a command. (v. 17)

C. There is a challenge. (v. 19)

IV. COMMANDMENT OF RICHES. V. 11-16

A. Flee (v. ll)

B. Follow (v. 11)

C. Fight (v. 12)
