TEXT: Phillippians 4:8-9 INTRODUCTION: If we could list the things we would like to receive this coming year; would they be selfish materialism or would it be spiritual blessings to glorify Christ? I. FAITH THAT STANDS THE TEST Hebrews 11:1-3, 6 A.Saving, serving and satisfying faith in the Saviour. B. Sincere, strong, stable, sufficient faith in the saints. C.Subdued, sensitive, self-assurance in yourself. II. FORGIVENESS THAT SEALS THE TESTIMONY Matthew 6:14-15;Ephesians 4:31-32 A Under the law, you were forgiven only as you forgave. B. Under grace we gladly forgive because we have been forgiven. C. With the new creature there is no room for old hurts. III. FAVOR THAT SHOWS YOU ARE TRUE Romans 12:1-2 A. Proof of the new birth is a new life. B. Practicing what you preach if you areprove it.C. Power to accomplish any of the above is solely in the Lord. IV. FEAR THAT WILL SHUN TROUBLE - Proverbs 1:7 A. Flight, running, hiding from self, sin, others. B. Fear of disobedience instead of obedience. C. Future reaping the things you sow. V. FEELING THAT YOU CAN SHARE WITH TENDERNESS I Pet. 3:8-12A. The same things that hurt your feelings hurt others. B. Sharp words, hard look, refusing fellowship. C. Say the same thing in a person s absence as presence. (same tone, look, motive) VI. FACTS AS WERE STATED AND NOT TWISTED Galatians 5:15A Most church trouble comes from a left out word. B. Slanted statement, added comment, false impression. C. Ask the person that tells you a tale to go with you to that person. VII. FIND THE SOLUTION THAT IS TRUSTWORTHY Romans 14:16-19A. Find yourself instead of looking for an escape. B.
