"SEVEN NEW THINGS FOR THE NEW YEAR"

Text: II Cor. 5:17

INTRODUCTION: As we start the New Year many of us are tempted to live in the past. We do need to reflect the past to learn our mistakes Thank God for the victories, but we can't live victoriously on past blessings alone. (Phil 3:13) Let's claim these seven things for this year.

I. A NEW FAITH:
1. A faith centered in Christ. (Heb. 12:2)
2. A faith that works for Christ (James 2:17)
3. A faith to live for Christ (Heb. 10:38) The just shall live by faith

II. A NEW POSITION:
1. A position on the Rock (Psa. 40:2)
2. A position' of Acceptance (Eph. 1:6)
3. A position of no Condemnation (Rom. 8:1)

III. A NEW ASSURANCE
1. An Assurance over doubt (John 10:28)
2. An Assurance over Temptation (Rev. 3:10)
3. An Assurance forever (Psa. 121:8)
'The Lord shall preserve thy going out, and thy coming in from
this time forth and even forever more.

IV. A NEW SERVICE:
1. A cross-bearing life (Luke 14:27)
2. A self denying life (Matt. 16:24)
3. A Christ following life (Mark 8:34)

V. A NEW JOY:
1. Joy because of Deliverance (Col. 1:13)
2. Joy because of Liberty (Gal. 5:13)

VI. A NEW PRAYER LIFE:
1. Pray for our enemies (Matt. 5:44)
2. Pray for all in Authority (I Tim. 2:1, 2)
3. A prayer that is steadfast (I Thess. 5:17)

VII. A NEW TESTIMONY:
1. A testimony of Praise (Psa. 119:171)
2. A testimony as lights in the world (Matt. 5:14)
3. A testimony without sin. (Job 2:10)

CONCLUSION: As we claim new things as Christians, you, as a lost person need to claim Christ as your personal Saviour. You couldn't start this new year any better way than as a Christian.
