In Jn. 10:9 Jesus said, “I am the door, by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.” When Jesus simply said “I am” it was a claim to deity. But, He went on to say, “I am the door.” He does not say I am one of many doors, but I am the only door there is to enter into the greatest things of life.
II. He is the Door to Being Secure. See Rom. 8:39. If we cannot be separated from the love of God, it should give us a great measure of security. The Bible says, “He that hath the Son hath life” (I Jn. 5:12). If you have Jesus in your heart, and if you cannot be separated or severed from His love, a sense of well being should swell up in our soul like an artesian well. If retaining my salvation depended upon me, I would never be saved another day of my life. But, thank God my life is in Him! III. He is the Door to Enter Serenity. John 14:27 says “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” Peace is a spiritually bestowed sense of well being that ssures us that no matter what is going on in this world, we are safe in Jesus. Christ is the “Peace-Giver.” So many people are living their lives like an earthworm just set into a hot oven. We are at times unsettled in our Christian life and get disturbed, but God’s will is a life of peace. IV. He is the Door to Enter a Special Home. Read Jn. 14:1-3. As children of God, our real home is not down here on this earth, our real home is up in the sky, where Jesus is and where we will never say goodbye. Heaven is great, grand and glorious. It will exceed all of our human expectations and will be much more than we ever dreamed A Sermons from Dr. Tom Walker |
