"Preach The Word"

The Home of the Brave

1 Chron 19:13 says, “Be of good courage, and let us behave ourselves valiantly for our people, and for the cities of our God: and let the LORD do that which is good in his sight.” God in this verse is encouraging His people to be courageous and to be valiant. “Valiantly” has the idea of having strength or force. On this Memorial Day, we remember the soldiers who died that others might live.
Don Childers spoke of what an emotional time it was when he went to the military cemetery in Washington, D.C. where the tomb of the unknown soldier is located. We should never forget those who were brave enough to give their lives for the cause of freedom.
As a Christian you are to be a brave person for the Lord. Peter was not very brave when he denied the Lord Jesus by the enemie’s fire, but on the other hand He was brave when he preached that powerful message at Pentecost. When it comes to the things of God are you brave or do you have a streak of cowardice about you?

I. Be Brave in Your Work- The Bible says we are to always be “abounding in the work of the Lord” (I Cor. 15:58). Some will work for the Lord when there is no resistance to endure. But, when some folks are criticized, they are about ready to quit. Always stand by your God given convictions even if others do not understand. That is important if you want the fulness of God’s blessings in your life.

II. Be Brave in Your Witness- Acts 1:8 says, “But ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me...” The fear of man keeps some people from witnessing for Jesus. Get past the fear of man and remember that God said, “Fear not for I am with thee...” (Isa.43:5). If Peter could stand at Pentecost as he did and accuse the Jews for crucifying Jesus, you can be brave in your personal witnessing life. It is important you tell others what Jesus has done for you that it might help them.

III. Be Brave in Your Worship- Some people will not worship the Lord outwardly because they are afraid someone will talk about them. We all express our emotions differently. Some cry, some smile, some laugh, and others shout. If you feel God wants you to shout and praise Him do not hesitate to do so. You will miss a great blessing!
