THE MAN CORNELIUS Text: Acts 10:1-8, 19-22 INTRODUCTION - Cornelius, the man who was so much - like many of today I. HE WAS A GOOD MAN, ACCORDING TO HIS SERVANTS, v.22... 1. He was a military man _ centurion ... 2. He was a moral man _ "just" . . . 3. He was a model man _ "of good report" . . . II. HE WAS A RELIGIOUS MAN, ACCORDING TO GOD, v. 2 1. A professing man _ "devout and feared God" . . . Sincere in his belief 2. A providing man _ "gave much alms"... Charitable, a good neighbor 3. A praying man _ "prayed to God always" . . . III. HE WAS A LOST MAN, ACCORDING TO GOD'S WORD Acts 11:13-14 . .. 1. He was religious, but this was not enough ... 2. He was sincere, but this was not salvation ... 3. He was charitable, but this will not suffice ... 4. His prayers were not heard until he prayed for salvation ... 5. He needed the gospel, God's plan of salvation . . . 6. Peter was brought to tell him how to be saved ... IV. HE WAS FINALLY A SAVED MAN, v. 44-47 ... 1. He heard the word - not with ears only, but with his heart ... 2. He accepted the word and received the Holy Spirit ... He magnified God - confessed Christ as Saviour ...
