"Preach The Word"

Who Will Go For Us?

Isa. 6:8 says, “Whom shall I send and who will go for us? Then said I, “Here am I; Lord send me.” Isaiah was absorbed with the death of King Uzziah. It was then he was confronted with God’s glory filling the temple. God had an alternative to Isaiah’s concern over the king’s death, it was people in spiritual need, who were still living. Let’s look at verse 8 in three different ways. It is a good question for the Lord to ask, “Who will go for us?”
I. Blessed People Should Go. God’s people are blessed above all the other people on the face of the earth. He has blessed us in so many ways. One of the greatest blessings is that of salvation. Eph. 2:8 says, “For by grace are ye saved.” To be saved is to be saved from sin’s penalty (eternal separation from God) and from sin’s power (daily control over our lives). We can sing, “Redeemed how I love to proclaim it, redeemed by the blood of the Lamb.” The second greatest blessing is that of the Spirit. The Holy Ghost lives within each and every believer (I Jn. 4:13). The unsaved person who doesn’t have the Holy Spirit of God within does not desire to do God’s work, but the saved certainly should long to do His will.

II. Burdened People Should Go. Why should we represent the Lord and His Gospel? First, we should be burdened because Hell is real. It is not the product of uncontrolled, imaginative thinking. It is mentioned 54 times in our King James Version of the Bible. Read Mark 9:43-47. We should warn the sinner that Hell will be his home at the end of life’s journey without Christ. Then, we should be burdened because the sinner is lost. Luke 15 speaks of a lost sheep, a lost coin and a lost son. To be lost is to be like a ship lost at sea or crashed up on the rocks. To be lost is to not know the way. But, if you have Jesus, you have the way, the truth and the life (Jn. 14:1-6).

III. Biddable People Should Go. A biddable person is one who follows directions or obeys commands. When it comes to your relationship with God, are you a biddable person? If you are, two things are definitely true. First, you have an ear to listen. Read John 5:24. It is the one that hears God’s Word and believes in the Lord Jesus that has everlasting life. Spiritual people have an ear for the Lord. One must remember that God will not tell a person to act contrary to the Word of God. Secondly, you should have a will to do. In a Messianic foreshadowing, Psm.40:8 says, “I delight to do thy will oh my God.” That should be the will of all of God’s people.
