Why I Believe In The Word Of God Readings:2 Tim. 3:14-17; 1 Pet. 1:22-25; 2 Pet.1:19-21 Text: I Pet.1:25 Introduction:Someone once said that even though heaven, earth, the visible church, and man himself should crumble into nonentity, he would through grace, hold on to the Word of God as the unbreakable link between his soul and God. That man believed in the Bible--and so must we, if the Bible is to mean anything in a day of human speculation and hopeless uncertainty. The basis for belief in the Bible rests on: I. The Infallibility Of The Bible (1 Pet. 1:25) A. God's Infallible Record To Men B. God's Infallible Rule For Men II. The Indestructibility Of The Bible (1 Pet. 1:25) A. Its Preservation B. Its Publication III. The Indispensability Of The Bible A. The Revelation of God (Heb. 1:1) B. The Redemption of Man (Acts 4:12) 1. Personal salvation (2 Tim. 3:15) 2. Social intergration (Col. 3:16) 3. National Reformation (Prov. 14:34) Conclusion: If we accept our text, then we must believe the Bible is infallible and learn it; we must believe the Bible is indestructible, and love it; we must believe the Bible is indispensable and live it.
