SERIES: WORDS FROM THE CROSS SUBJECT: The Word of Assurance READING: Luke 23:39-43 TEXT: "...today thou shalt be with Me in Paradise" (23:43). Introduction: This second "word from the cross" might be called "The Response of the Savior to the Request of the Sinner." Jesus was crucified between two malefactors. One was saved, the other was lost. Let us focus our attention on the dialogue between the Savior and the sinner who was saved. I. The Sinner's Request (23:42) 1) A Distressing Fate (23:32) 2) A Disturbing Fear (23:40) a) Incriminating Deeds (23:40-41) b) Impending Doom (23:40) 3) A Dawning Faith (23:42) a) The Divine Savior (23:42) b) The Divine Sovereign (23:42) II. The Savior's Response (23:43) 1) Immediate Salvation (23:43) 2) Infinite Satisfaction (23:43) Conclusion: The Savior's response to the sinner 5 request is as relevant today as it was two thousand years ago; there is no time dimension with God. The cross was in the heart of God long before it was on Mount Calvary. It is a redemptive event for all time and eternity. That is why you must cry, "Lord, remember me." If you do, you will hear his voice, "...today...with Me." SERMON FROM DR. STEPHEN OLFORD- ENCOUNTER MINISTRIES- USA |
