LAUGHING AT HELL FIRE
And these shall go away into everlasting punishment:
but the righetous into life eternal. Matt. 25:46.
Of all the tragic calamities you may recall, none is so serious
as the loss of an immortal soul.
Church officers often want pastors to avoid the subject of hell,
and emphasize the love of God.
I. The man who laughs at hell fire is a fool.
A. Man who says "no God" is atheistic fool. Ps. 53:1.
B. Slandering fool. "Hideth hatred with lying lips, and
he that uttereth a slander is a fool." Prov. 10:18.
C. Meddlesome fool. "Every fool will be meddling."
Prov. 20:3.
D. Hyprocritical fool. Cleansing platters outside. Luke
11:39, 40.
E. Greatest fool mocks at sin and hell. Prov. 14:9.
1. He mocks God. "That shall he also reap."
2. He mocks sin. Look at jails, hospitals, etc.
See broken bodies, homes, moral derelicts.
3. He mocks at his own danger.
4. He mocks at God's warnings.
II. Laughing at hell fire makes Christ a liar?
A. If you deny His word, you make Him a liar. He says
hell is real.
B. You challenge His being the Son of God.
C. You indicate that God will change plans just for
you — for you do not plan to go to hell.
III. The man who laughs at hell fire is eternally lost.
A. He has denied the truth of God. Jesus said, "I am
the way, the truth, and the life." You plan on
something else.
One does not wait until death to be lost—he is
lost now. The Light has come into the world and
men love darkness rather than light, and that spells
hell fire for a soul.
