A TELLING RELIGION
Howbeit, Jesus suffered him not, but saith unto him,
go home to thy friends, and tell them how great things
the Lord hath done for thee, and hath compassion on
thee. Mark 5:19.
Perhaps no other miracle had so many extreme qualities:
1. The extreme of need. Lived in tombs. Had unclean
spirit.
2. Extreme of violence. Could not be bound with chains.
3. Extreme of sin. Possessed with a devil.
Let's look at this man for a few moments:
I. Note the condition of the man.
A. He was sick mentally. Should be treated kindly.
B. Shunned by others, yet became recipient of God's
grace
C. The man was indwelt by evil ones. "Name is Legion"
II. See the compassion of Christ. V 19.
A. Jesus was moved by human need. Lepers, blind
beggars, etc.
B. Steady was Jesus in the face of violence.
C. Jesus was completely adequate for his needs.
III. The command of our Savior.
The man was ready to go with Jesus, but Jesus
wanted him to "Go home to thy friends and tell
them how great things the Lord hath done for
thee . . . "
Some were to go with the Lord, others to go home
to tell. The Gadarene could give best testimony
to those who knew him
Do not hesitate to speak of your Savior. Tell men
everywhere these words: "But God commendeth his
love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners
Christ died for us. Rom. 5: 8.
