THE SADDEST DAY IN THE CHRISTIAN'S FUTURE
If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss:
but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.
I Cor. 3:15.
This does not mean that all Christians will face sadness, yet
many of them will. We realize that:
1. We are saved by grace through faith. Eph. 2:8.
2. The Bible teaches we are to live in a certain way.
3. A Christian is to be judged, not on how much he does,
but on the manner of his work. If he fails to labor as
ordained by the Word, then he shall lose his reward—
not his salvation.
4. We may stand as redeemed from penalty of sin, but have
our works burned, and lose our rewards.
Notice the following things:
I. We jeopardize the present by careless living
A. We are to " . . keep under my body, and bring
it into subjection . . . lest . . . I myself should be a
castaway."
B. We are to live carefully, thoughtfully, earnestly.
C. We are to live unselfishly.
D. We are to live reflecting God's marvelous love.
II. We hurt others by careless living.
A. Wrong examples hinder other people.
B. Wrong words and attitudes will help wreck others.
C. By complete silence others may be desperately hurt.
We are to be witnesses unto Him, always.
III. We rob ourselves by careless living.
A. A great joy is gained by helping others.
B. A sense of serenity at having done God's will.
IV. We hinder the Lord from giving us a full reward at the
Judgment seat of Christ.
A man's work may be burned in that day.
A. It will mean that we will lose the full reward.
B. If our works do not stand, we can be ashamed, as
revealed in I John 2:28.
C. We will not hear Him say, "Well done."
D. Our works will be burned up, though we are saved.
Remember, Christians will be judged.
