YOUR MOST IMPORTANT ENGAGEMENT
So then every one of us shall give account of himself
to God. Rom. 14:12.
It is our most important engagement and the results depend
on what you do with Christ.
I. Why is it so important to get ready to die—one of life's
important engagements?
A. Because it is coming to everyone?
B. We do not know when it is coming.
C. Every minute brings us closer to death.
D. Because death shuts out all opportunity for salvation
and service.
II. It is more important than the second coming of Christ.
A. The second coming means release from pain, sorrow
and fear to the child of God. It means reunion
with loved ones. It means a new body, and fulfilment
of all dreams and aspirations of Heaven.
B. For the sinner it means separation, tribulation and
damnation. "Prepare to meet thy God." Amos 4:12.
"So then every one of us shall give an account of
himself to God."
III. Why is this such an important engagement?
A. You must meet God face to face.
B. You must give an accounting to God. Matt. 12:36.
1. We will be judged as Christians for works and
service, not for salvation. That is settled here.
Christians judged for the use of talents, testimonies,
and possessions.
2. Sinners will be judged from the things written.
a. "Hypocrites in church" cannot be blamed.
b. Cannot blame those who made you angry.
c. You will be judged for treatment of Jesus.
d. For use of your influence in damning others.
e. Vile, deep-dyed and wicked sinners judged.
f. Moral, clean, upright, notable sinners, also.
IV. You must receive a reward. "And whosoever was not
found written in the book of life was cast into the lake."
Rev. 20:15.
