TIME
Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.
Eph. 5:16
TIME is precious. Paul says, buy it up and use it wisely
because "the days are evil."
TIME is a section cut out of the circle of eternity.
TIME is made up of small fragments-31,560,000 seconds a
year.
TIME killed is to find oneself killed.
It is life's treasury to utilize or to waste.
It is life's book, to learn wisdom or die fools.
It is life's tree, to pluck precious fruit of the Spirit, or to
pass away in soul danger.
It is life's ladder, up which you may go to eternal honor, or
down which may go to eternal ruin.
I. It is time to number our days.
A. Life at best is brief. Pitiful to waste time.
B. Remember the uncertainty of life. James 4:13-16.
C. It is our season to build and to lay up treasures.
Many things such as health, wealth, knowledge,
friendships, reputation, etc., may be recovered, but
not time.
II. It is time to awaken. "Awake thou that sleepest, and
arise from the dead, and Christ shall give thee light."
Eph. 5:14.
A. Awaken to the awfulness of sin and to opportunities.
"He that sleepeth in harvest is a son that
causeth shame."
B. Awaken to the presence of God. Too many of us
sleep as disciples on Transfiguration—or in Gethsemane.
III. It is time to seek the Lord. "Behold, now is the day of
salvation." II Cor. 6:2. Faith in tomorrow, instead of
Christ, is Satan's weapon. The rich man and Lazarus a
wonderful illustration. The road to hell is paved with
good intentions.
Old Saxon king crushed a distant province, placed candle over
his archway and offered to forgive the rebellious who
would surrender and take the oath of loyalty while the
light was burning. God's offer is limited.
