THE ABOMINATION OF ABOMINATIONS

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous
therefore and repent. Rev. 3:19.
What is the saddest condition to face our land today? Is it
the departing from democracy, or business that partakes
of Satanic methods? Is it a social life that ignores all
the principles of decency and honor? Is it home life that
departs from the teachings of righteousness?
The saddest condition is in our churches. They are popular
and membership is considered good and desirable.
What kind of religion? The kind that costs nothing, does
nothing, and that changes nothing. The kind that does
not hold to Bible standards, or follow Bible precepts.
It is my conviction that churches err in three directions:

I. In Church leadership. We have two scriptural officers:
pastors and deacons.
A. Our leadership is often wordly, smoking, dancing,
card playing, worldliness. This develops lukewarnness.
B. Church leadership is selfish. Too much self-seeking.
Selfish and satisfied leaders ruin a church.
C. It often leads away from New Testament doctrines.

II. Chruch members have erred. I feel it in my heart to
rise to the defence of church members when leadership
fails.
A. Many have joined the church unsaved.
B. Many are untaught.
C. Many are untrained. The first need of all members
is to have Jesus as Savior, and the second is to obey.

III. Churches err in their programs. Our first obligation is
to seek the souls of the lost.
A. Our program is not social.
B. It is not educational, except in Spiritual realm,
and it is not civic. What is the program?
1. It is spiritual and soul-seeking. "So send I you."
2. It is a life-changing program. We not only lead
men to Christ, but we are to lead them to grow
in grace and in knowledge of our Savior.
Programs attuned to this world will not accomplish what God
has in mind for His churches to do.
