A MONUMENT TO JESUS CHRIST
The same came therefore to Philip, which was of
Bethsaida of Galilee, and desired him saying, Sir, we
would see Jesus. John 12:21. (Read Heb. 2:9 also.)
A church in Washington has a sign, "A monument to Jesus
Christ." Jesus needs no monument, He needs movements.
Needs no legends in stone, but a story told by people.
No need for marble statues, but for Christians of firm
convictions.
The world is crying, "We would see Jesus. Three things:—
I. Look toward a great Person. Savior, Lord, King, Inspiration.
II. Look toward a great Objective. Not to the physical and
the low.
A. Objective should be to live for Christ daily. Do not
make it a special day affair.
B. Another objective should be serving Christ by making
His name known to every person possible.
III. Look toward a great moment: and that moment is the
coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I John 3:2, and I Cor.
15:51-52.
A. We are going to see Him—look into His face.
B. We are going to be judged by Him: " So then
every one of us shall give an account of himself
to God."
C. We are going to enter into Heaven forever with
Him. Better get used to walking with Him now.
Martin Luther once cried out, "If you knock at the door of my
heart, I shall not answer, 'Martin Luther lives here.'
Rather shall I answer, 'Jesus Christ lives here.' "
Monuments will never win many to Jesus, but living Christians
will.
