POWER AND WEAKNESS OF A BIBLE CHURCH
Text: Rev. 2:1-7 concerning the church at Ephesus.
A Bible church is one that holds to the Bible teachings.
All churches are not Bible churches.
I. What the Bible definitely teaches.
A. Salvation by grace through faith.
B. It teaches eternal security.
C. It teaches separation from the world.
D. That there is a heaven to gain and a hell to shun.
E. That Christ is coming again.
II. Note what the Bible Churches are doing:
A. Engaged in the Bible business of seeking the lost.
B. Of building the people in the most holy faith.
III. Let us study where the power of the Bible church is:
A. It is not in the number of members.
B. Power is not in organization, but of God. Acts 4:33.
C. Not in money. Peter and John had no money.
D. Power is not in education.
E. Power not in religion. Many boast but are powerless.
IV. Power is in uncompromising stand for the Word of God.
Lukewarmness and half-heartedness make God sick.
V. Power lies in her undying love for Christ.
A. We will keep His commandments. "If ye love me."
B. We will be Christ-centered.
C. We will make Him preeminent. "In all things."
D. We will be Christ-sent. "As the Father hath sent
VI. Power is utterly dependent on the Holy Spirit., A. Utilizes our physicial energies and numbers.
B. Sanctifies our education.
C. He guides us into all truth and activity.
The load is heavy and unproductive when we seek to do the
work of the Lord in our own strength. It is not "by
might, nor by power, but by my Spirit saith the Lord."
