THE ONE INDISPENABLE PREREQUISITE FOR A REVIVAL
0 Lord, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: 0
Lord, revive they work in the midst if the years, in
the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember
mercy. Hab. 3:2,
Lord, teach us to pray. Luke 11:1.
Preaching is most important in a revival.
Good singing is so vitally helpful.
Personal witnessing is so wonderful in winning the lost.
Crowds are important. It is through foolishness of preaching
that men are won to Christ.
THE ONE indispensable thing is PRAYER.
I. Pray fo rthe warming of your own heart. Unselfishly.
Cold hearts are the result of contact with the world.
Doubting hearts are cold hearts. (On way to Emmaus.)
II. Pray for a clean heart. This is a calculated risk:
A. Sincere prayer will result in facing our sins.
B. Makes us see ourselves as we really are.
C. Makes us risk becoming more like Christ.
D. Reveals the hindrances that must be sloughed off.
III. Pray for increased love for others. "Love one another."
How can we love some people? Pray for the grace to
make you love others. Only God can give it.
A. Love is sign you have passed from death to life.
B. Any hatred or bitterness hinders the revival.
IV. Pray for a burden for souls. How can it come about?
A. Pray for renewed vision of our Savior dying for us.
B. Read God's Word about the terribleness of hell.
C. Pray for sinners by name—then put legs on prayers.
D. Be ready to witness as you have opportunity. The
warm hearted touch of a member often does more
than the minister might be able to do. It is expected
to him, but it felt that your touch
