"Preach The Word"

BUILDING A PRAYER LIFE

And in the morning, rising up a great while before
day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place,
and there prayed. Matt. 1:35.
Most of our praying has no foundation or stability.
We pray in spurts, under emergencies.

I. To build a prayer life, settle some important matters:
A. You must know you are God's child. Sinners cannot
pray, except as they pray "God be merciful to me."
He has no way of approach; no intercessor; no
mediator, no High Priest.
B. Must believe that all worthwhile things are done
through prayer.
C. You must believe that God actually answers prayer.
D. Must meet conditions for answered prayer. If God
were to answer prayers of those living sinfully He
would be giving His approval of sin.

II. Must view prayer in the Scriptural light. A Necessity:
A. If we are to fellowship with God.
B. For victorious living.
C. For getting what you need. "He shall supply your
needs."
D. If we are to help others.
E. Prayer is work. Not for amusement or show.
F. Prayer is a warfare. Devil knows its power.
1. Devil fights those who pray.
2. Detracts with modern TV's, phones, autos, etc.
3. Seeks to make you impatient.

III. Pray at all seasons about everything. Pray often during
each day. Pray big prayers to a big God. Pray when
you don't feel like it. Pray and don't worry. Pray for
others. Keep that prayer list up to date.
