THE MINISTRY OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

TEXT: JOHN 16:7

INTRODUCTION: It has been well said that - Christianity is nothing unless it is the administration of the Holy Spirit; preaching is nothing unless it is by the demonstration of the Holy Spirit; Service is nothing unless it is by the motivation of the Holy Spirit.

I. HIS PURPOSE FOR THE CHRISTIAN.

A. Separated from the world. (Romans 12:1-2)

B. Servant of the Lord. (Romans 1: la)

C. Shielded from the devil. (Ephesians 6:11)

II. HIS PROGRAM FOR THE CHURCH.

A. Reviving of the saints. (Hebrews 3:2)

B. Reclaiming of the slackers. (Il Peter 1:9)

C. Reaching out to sinners. (Luke 14:23)

III.. HE POINTS TO THE CROSS.

A. Shows believers their security. (John 5:24)

B. Shows unbelievers the Savior. (John 1:29b)

C. Shows forth a finished salvation. (John 19:30)

IV. HE PLEADS FOR PEOPLE TO BE CONVERTED.

A. Wants everyone to come. (Matthew 11:28)

B. Waits for your decision. (11 Peter 3:9b)

C. Warns of brevity of life. (Proverbs 27:1)

V. HIS PROMISE TO THOSE WHO COME.

A. Receive everlasting life. (John 3:16)

B. Reviewed in the Scripture. (John 6:63b)

C. Rejoicing in the promises. (11 Peter 1:4)

CONCLUSION: The blessed Holy Spirit is our friend. Without His divine enablement we would find ourselves helpless in the matter of living the Christian life and in carrying on the work of our Saviour. Without His divine enablement, the unsaved would never come to the place of realizing their need of the Saviour.
