SWALLOWED UP WITH ZEAL TEXT:John 2:15-17 INTRODUCTION: The House of God is where most of us were saved. The House of God is where all of us have been fed spiritually and have grown in the grace of God. I. THE ZEAL FOR GOD'S HOUSE SHOULD EAT UP ALL BITTERNESS "Can two walk together, except they be agreed?" - Amos 3:3 1. "The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up." The zeal for God's House should eat up all bitterness. II. THE ZEAL FOR GOD'S HOUSE SHOULD EAT UP ALL SELFISHNESS 1. There are so many today who serve God for the fishes and loaves or just what they can get out of it for themselves. 2. Beloved, the Church, the House of God, was not organized for selfish motives; but where all believers could pray for one another, aid one another and the zeal for God's House should eat up all selfish motives. III. THE ZEAL FOR GOD'S HOUSE SHOULD EAT UP ALL FOOLISHNESS 1. There is so much foolishness going on in the church today that doesn't honor the Lord Jesus, neither does it promote the Word of God. "0 foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth?" 2. Confusion is foolishness and anything that doesn't glorify our Lord in the church is foolishness; therefore our zeal should eat up all foolishness. IV. THE ZEAL FOR GOD'S HOUSE SHOULD EAT UP ALL WORLDLINESS 1. There is a general feeling among God's people that there is nothing wrong with sin. You will never know how much the church is hurt by members who go out and live ungodly. 2. If a person has no respect for himself, he should have some for Jesus Christ and for the church. V. THE ZEAL FOR GOD'S HOUSE SHOULD EAT UP ALL EMPTINESS 1. The world has a reason to be empty and searching for something to satisfy, but the child of God has no reason to be empty. When the disciples had gone fishing and toiled all night, catching nothing, Jesus appeared on the shore. Jesus knew they were empty and called out, "Come and dine." 2. The House of God is where the table is spread and God's children are invited to come and dine. The things of the world can never satisfy the born again child of God. Psalm 65:4. The zeal for God's House should eat up all emptiness. Sermon From
