"Preach The Word"

The Uniqueness Of The Only Begotten Son

1 John 4:9 says, "In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him." The term "only begotten" means "single, only one of its kind"–suggesting uniqueness. Here are some things about the Lord Jesus that you will agree with me are clearly and indisputably unique.

I. He Was Born Of A Woman- Not A Woman And A Man- The birth of the Lord Jesus was not the result of a physical union between a man and a woman. Joseph was merely the step-father of Jesus. Christ was virgin born–without aid of a earthly, human man. The Bible is very clear that Christ was virgin born (Isa. 7:14).

II. He Was A Man- And Yet God Was God- 1 Timothy 3:16 says, "God was manifest in the flesh. "What a blessing to know that God came down to man in a human form through His Son, the Lord Jesus.

No one but Christ has ever been man and God at the same time. Christ was fully human, without a sin nature, as well as God Almighty. If you have seen Christ, you have seen the Father.

III. He Was Rich- Yet He Chose To Be Poor.

2 Cor 8:9 says, "For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye through His poverty might be rich." Because of His desire to make us rich, Jesus became poor. He at times did not have a place to lay His head, when all the time He was the Creator of all things. Because Jesus became poor we can become spiritually rich.

IV. He Was Rejected- But He Desires To Accept Others.

John 1:11,12 declares that His own (the Jews) did not receive Him, but as many would could become "sons of God." It is our human nature that when others do not receive us, we do not want to receive them. Christ loves for those who reject Him to come unto Him. He will abundantly pardon and receive.

V. He Was Crucified By Man- But Longs To Save All Men.

2 Peter 3:9 says the Lord is–"Not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance." It was the desire of Christ to save those who helped crucify Him. When others crucify us, do we want the best for them? Christ is certainly unique in every way. He is God’s "Special One"–ready to save all that come unto Him.
