"Preach The Word"

FIVE IMPERATIVES OF THE CHRISTIAN LIFE/

Heb. 12:1-3 \

1. Hebrews teaches that Jesus is BETTER than the Law of
Moses. He is a better priest;a better sacrafice...
2. After a study of faith and the working out of faith in
the lives in chapter 11, chapter 12, reminds us of the
   imperatives in the Christian Life.
3. Reminding us of the great host of  heavenly witnesses,
that are urging us on in our christian life and commit-
   ment.
4. These Imperatives are: First:

I. LAYING ASIDE THE SIN AND WEIGHT THAT SO EASILY BESETS YOU.
A. We must lay aside / get rid of sin...
B. By confessing any sin that is in our life.
C. And Repenting of that sin and turn from it and receive
Gods Forgiveness, and Restoration of Fellowship/broken.
D. I John 1:9

II. LOOKING UNTO JESUS IN FAITH
    PSA.121:1
A. Look unto Jesus for our Course in life. The race is set
before us...No doubt about that. vs. 1
B. Look unto Jesus during our Commitment to Him.
1. He loves you.  2. He longs for fellowship with you in
    daily devotion to Him.
C. Look unto Jesus for your  Courage in life.
1. Let him bare your burdens, let Him work through you.
2. Don't try to be courageous in your own strength, even
though that helps. The flesh is weak , but the spirit
    is willing."
D. Look unto Jesus for Comfort and rest in life.
1. Life will have disappointments: 2. Delays  3. Deaths
4. Dangers... 5. Mt. 11:28-30 "Come unto me"
E. Look unto Jesus for Consolation [hope for this life and
   for the next life]
1. We do have hope.  2. That is one of the themes of
Hebrews also,  3. Is the hope that we have in Jesus.

III. LISTEN TO JESUS WITH EARS OF FAITH
A. Mt. 7: 24-27 "He that heareth my word and doeth it...
shall be like a house built on the Rock. It will stand.
B. He that heareth  my word and doeth it not...Shall be
like a house built on the sand. It will fall.
C. At Jesus baptism: The voice of God was heard and said:
"This is my son, hear ye him."
D. John 5:24 For you who may be lost. You need to listen
   to Him.
"Verily, verily I say unto you, he that heareth my word,
and beleiveth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life
and shall not come into condemnation: but is passed from
death unto life." [Jesus Words, U need to listen.]

IV.  LOVE JESUS  "THE AUTHOR / FINISHER OF OUR FAITH.
A.  Bible says, "Thou shalt love the the Lord thy
God, with all your heart, with all your mind, with all your soul,
and thy neighbor as thy self."
B. Don't be surprised if Jesus someday asks you if you
love Him.
C. John 21, Jesus asked Peter: "Lovest thou me?" 3 times.
D.  Jesus said: "If ye love me keep my commandments."

V.  LABOR FOR JESUS BY FAITH

"Run the race with Patience"
A. A lot of people are saved / can testify to that: but
They never go any further in serious Bible study, and
WORSHIP of God and in Service for Him. [this may stir UP
SOME OF YOU...]
B. But that right there is what is wrong with alot of
people. I hope that no one here is like that.
C. We should be encouraged by these witnesses the writer
writes about: *** They are our cheer-leaders, if you
please, encouraging us to run, LABOR in the Christian
life.
1.  There's Moses saying: Move out in faith,
2.  There is Abraham saying: Move out in faith...
3. There is Noah saying: Move out in faith...
Illustration: Little girl fell out of bed, her mother
rushed to her, asked:"how come you fell out of bed?"Girl
said:"I think I stayed too close to the place that I got
in."  That is the problem with many christians today:
stay too close to the place where we got in, and
stumble/fall.   We need to move on /labor on by faith
in the Author and Finisher of our Faith, Jesus Christ.
