"Preach The Word"

COMFORTING AND ASSURING GOD'S PEOPLE

Isaiah 40:1-2,28-31

1. Have you ever asked anyone what they were doing and
   they would answer back...
_I'm waiting on some one right now.
_  I've had that answer given me time and time again.
_  But I've got my first time for someone to tell me I'm
   waiting on God.

2. The Prophet Isaiah says that God will do something for
us if we will wait on Him.

3. But our waiting on God will depend on our faith of what
   He really is.

4. Look here at some verses not before us:

I. NOTICE THE PEOPLE WHO ARE TO WAIT AND BE COMFORTED

A. Dedicated people...Psa. 55:17 says "Evening and
morning and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud; and
    he shall hear my voice".

B. Detained people.  Acts 2:4
1. here are 120 people. They waited and prayed for 10 days
2. But the H.S. [did come] upon them. How many people we
have trying to serve God without power.
3. Because they go with out prayer.

C. Divine  people.
Psa. 46:10 tells us  be still and know that I am God"
2. Be still and allow God to speak to you.

II.NOTICE THE PERSON TO WAIT FOR AND TO   BE  COMFORTED

A. Jesus is the Savior..

B. Jesus is Lord...Wait upon the Lord.

C. Jesus is Master.

When He speaks to us, we should obey him:

D. Jesus Is King..

III.  NOTICE THE POWER AND THE ENERGY FOR THOSE WHO WAIT  UPON ON THE LORD.

[Look with me at the different strengths]

A. Physical Strength. Phil. 4:13
1. "I can do all things through Christ which strength-
   eneth me".

2. I believe that this strength comes through prayer and
   not altogether through eating food.

B. Personal strength: Isa. 41:10 a favorite of mine.
God will strengthen you for every task you face.

C. Powerful strength. Eph. 3:16
1. Here, we find strength for "the inner man".
2. And find that the inner man is being renewed every day

IV. NOTICE THOSE WHO WILL RECEIVE THE PROMISE] 3 OF THEM

A. The power. "they shall mount up with wings as eagles"
1. The eagle is the King of the birds..it soars the
   highest into the heavens.

* Some preachers and others seem to think its terrible for
a man of God to burn out. It may be...

* * To be burned out can be the doorway to greater events

2. But let me tell you this: right here in the Word of God
is the key to not burning out.

3. The great missionary woman got it right when she said:
"I don't get tired, I just walk in the strength of the
  Lord".  [Bertha Smith]
* That is like learning to be content as Paul said, You
have to learn to walk right, and some of us don't earn
that lesson as soon as others. I was one who didn't.

Listen: "They shall mount up with wings as eagles"

a. It don't say with eagles, but as eagles.
b. The Eagle, high up on the rock, just spreads his wings
and goes off soaring on the strength of the wind.

4. Believing Christians are to live a heavenly life, in
the very presence and love and joy of the Lord, God.

5. And, we need and can have Gods power to rise to this
   heavenly height.

a. The only way the Eagle gets Eagles wings is by birth.

b. Then the Mother Eagle teaches the young eagle how to
   use its wings and fly.

c. Every Christian has Eagles wings and God will teach you
to use them like He did me.

d. God spreads His wings like the Mother Eagle, for you to
rest your weakness on and offers His everlasting
strength to work in you. Praise God!!!

* Hebrews 12:1ff teaches us what to do...Read it..

B. The Persistence: "you can run and not be weary".

1. Gods work does require strength...Preaching...singing..
   visiting...[try talking for 30 minutes w/out stopping
and stand up when you do it. [You'll see]

2. It took a lots of strength this week for me to preach
   in the revival...

3. But God gives strength to do His work!

C. The Promise: you can..."walk and not faint"

God promises and enables us to go forth in the power
and in the anointing of the Holy Spirit.

Three Things You Should Do:

1. Surrender your life fully to God.

2. Trust and Obey God.

3.Depend totally on God,
and learn to let Him work through you in the Spirit.
