PAUL'S MANNER AND MESSAGE
Acts 17:1-9
1. I touched some on this last week.
2. But God has shown and given me more to share.
3. Lets don't get in a hurry and miss this.
I. PAUL'S TRUE EXAMPLE OF SERVANTHOOD VS. 2
A. "As his manner was" vs. 2
1. With his heart burning within, Paul entered
the
Synagogue..."
2. "And as his manner was. he went unto
them, and three
Sabbath days reasoned
with them out of the scriptures"
B. This was the habit of Paul and Jesus.
1. Both "as his manner was" [Paul]
and as his custom was
[Jesus] they went to church, both Paul
and Jesus.
2. The early Christians did not come to church
inadvert-
tently-failing to observe, unintentional] but
they
attended the services with great dedication,
purpose,
and habit.
C. So should it be for Christians today, U & I.
1. it should be our example, to walk into
the door of the
church every Lords Day and On Wed. nights
when we can.
2. And sit down with Gods people and
Worship the Lord.
D. For three consecutive Sabbath days:
1. in a Synagogue in which Paul was a
complete stranger,
2. he deliver a message from the Lord
about Jesus.
3. "reasoning with them out of the
scriptures"
4. that is a good definition of what True
Preaching is:
"Reasoning with them out
of the scriptures".
5. Important: Paul carried with him a
message from heaven
written out for him in the Bible.
6. Paul was the voice - proclaiming,
preaching that
message about Jesus.
II. THE EXPOSITION OF THE SCRIPTURES VS. 3
Opening and Alleging" vs. 3a
A. Grk. "Diagoigo": to fully disclose... to open fully.
B. Grk. "Paraatithemi". placing along side"
"alleging = Paul brought truths for the Diety, Kingship,
and Saviorhood of Jesus from the Word of God.
C. His suffering, and resurrection - That this Jesus whom
I Preach unto you is Christ". Acts 17:3
D. The sermon had a point in it.
E. Paul is preaching for a verdict, a decision.
III. THE TREMENDOUS EFFECT OF CHRISTIANITY
A. Verse 5a - 6
1. When Christianity penetrated the Old Roman
Empire,
2 . It brought a Revolution with tremendous
effects.
3. We don't see much Revolution today, except
in the wrong
direction.
4. Most of our Nations leaders and most
Politicians--
5. Pretend they are christians. Only a
pretense.
B. Our Nation
1. Needs a great Revival and a turning back to
Jesus and
His Word.
2. If it wasn't for the Godly, God fearing
leaders, like
some of them are
3. that stand and vote against Evil issues...
4. America would be in a mess...
* And I'm not preaching politics, I'm preaching
the Truth.
C. It was not Paul and Silas that turned the world up-
side down, then:
1. It was the Power of God in the message Paul
and Silas
preached and taught.
2. It was the Spirit of God, using and
blessing the Word
that brought 15 people into this church, since
August
1995 until Nov. 3, 1996.
3. I was just the Preacher and Proclaimer of
the Word.
Praying for God to bless...
4. When "they had taken security of Jason,
and of the
others, they let them go". vs. 9
5. That means: "that Jason had to make
bond".
D. Let God Be Praised!
1. You pray for God to help me deliver His
message, with
an appeal for people to believe in Jesus and be
saved.
2. And that the Holy Spirit will sanctify, and
hallow the
Word, and people will
respond."Hallow" = Honor the Word
3. That is the purpose of our assembling in
Worship, that
lost people might come to know the Lord, And
Christians
will be fed on the Word of God.
