"Preach The Word"

THE FACE OF JESUS

"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ" (II Cor. 4:6).

1. A Shining Face
"His face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light" (Matt. 17:2; Rev. 1:14).
2. A Determined Face
"And it came to pass, when the time was come that he should be received up, he stedfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem" (Luke 9:51; Isa. 50:7).
3. A Bruised Face
"And the men that held Jesus mocked him, and smote him. And when they had blindfolded him, they struck him on the face, and asked him, saying, Prophecy, who is it that smote thee?" (Luke 22:63, 64; Isa. 50:6).
4. A Hated Face
"Then did they spit in his face, and buffeted him: and others smote him with the palms of their hands" (Matt. 26:67).
5. A Hidden Face: Why?
"Thou hast hid thy face from us.... because of our iniquities" (Isa. 64:7; 54:8; Deut. 31:17, 18; 32:20; Job 13:23, 24; Ezek. 39:24; Micah 3:4; II Chron. 30:9).
6. A Face Against Them That Do Evil
"The face of the Lord is against them that do evil" (I Peter 3:12; Ezek. 14:8; 15:7; Jer. 44:10, 11; Lev. 20:6). 7. A Face We Should Seek
"When thou saidst, Seek ye my face: my heart said unto thee, Thy face, Lord, will I seek" (Ps. 27:8; 105:4; I Chron. 16:11; Hosea 5:15; II Chron. 7:14; Rev. 22:4; 6:15, 16).
Our Prayer:
"Make thy face to shine upon thy servant; save me for thy mercies' sake" (Ps. 31:16; 119:135; Num. 6:24-26).
