CHRIST WINS AN ENEMY

Text: Acts 9:1-22

Introduction: A close check of these verses will reveal that the church had nothing to do with Paul’s conversion. It was an act of sovereign grace.

I. PAUL THE PERSECUTOR - VS. 1-2

A. Notice his Name - vs. 1 (Saul).

Named after one of Israel’s greatest kings but after conversion he took the name Paul which means "Little". (What a conversion).

B. Notice his Nature - vs. 1

Breathing out threatening and slaughter.

C. Notice his Notions - vs. 2

On his way to arrest Christians.

II. PAUL THE PUPIL - VS. 3-6

In these verses you see how Paul learned Christ.

A. By Regeneration - vs. 3

There shined a light around him from heaven (Heb.6:4)

B. By Humiliation - Vs. 4-5.

C. By Transformation - Vs. 6

Lord, what will thou have me do?

III. PAUL THE PREACHER - VS. 20-22

A. When he preached - straightway

B. Where he preached - Synagogue

C. What he preached - Christ the Saviour.

IV. PAUL THE PUZZLE - VS, 21-22

A. Some were Confused - vs. 21 (Amazed).

B. Some were Confounded - vs, 22 (The Jews).

C. Some were Converted
