"Preach The Word"

PAST-PRESENT-FUTURE

I Corinthians 13:11-12

‘When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child: but when I became a man, I put away childish things."

"For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then, shall I know even as also I am known."

Paul described three periods of life which relates to our position today in the death of this loved one.

I. THE PAST: Verse 11 "When I was."

When we think of this one we can easily call to our memory the day and events of their life and our relationship with them. So many things that happened that had a profound bearing on our life.

II. THE PRESENT: Verse 12 "For now we see through a glass, darkly."

The present is like looking through a dark glass. We can*t see the whole picture. We don*t understand the sickness, the suffering and the death. We don*t know why God had to take such a jewel out of our life.

III. THE FUTURE: Verse 12

"But then face to face; now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known."

One day the darkness will be moved, one day the dark cloud will be swept away, and then we will understand it all.

When our Lord, the Master artist will take the brush and make the last sweep across the canvas of our life, we will be satisfied.
